1. SCOPE: The Altar Servers Ministry is a volunteer body of young people established to assist the clergy in parish liturgical and seasonal celebration functions.
2. PURPOSE: The purpose of the Altar Servers Ministry is to recruit, instruct , guide performance of altar servers, and assist the clergy in all parish liturgical functions. These include all week-end and holy days masses, weddings, funerals, stations-of-the-cross, etc.
3. FUNCTIONS:
a) Recruit and organize a group of volunteer young people to be altar servers.
b) Instruct and train altar servers in the liturgical assistance tasks required.
c) Provide suitable vesting clothing for altar servers and arrange for their upkeep and repair.
d) Schedule servers for all required liturgical functions.
4. ORGANIZATION & MEMBERSHIP: The Altar Server Ministry is organized under the direction of the Parochial Vicar and consists of volunteer young people who wish to assist in liturgical services. Membership is confirmed by the Pastor.
5. SCHEDULE: The Ministry performs at all week-end and holy day masses, weddings, funerals and other liturgical events. Instructional sessions and rehearsals are scheduled by the Parochial Vicar.
6. COMMITTEE COSTS AND OTHER PARISH GROUP RELATIONSHIPS: The cost of liturgical attire and its upkeep is provide by budgeted parish funds. The Committee works closely with the Lectors , Eucharistic Ministers and the parish clergy.
