MINISTRY OF MOTHERS SHARING (MOMS) is a ministry of fellowship, support and personal spiritual growth for mothers of the parish. We periodically offer an 8-week course to help women grow their spirituality in the company of other mothers, exploring prayer, friendships, and the sacredness of our everyday tasks. MOMS also regularly meet for small-group faith sharing, and host a monthly book discussion group, in addition to offering retreats and study opportunities throughout the year.

1. SCOPE:

The MOMS Ministry provides both ongoing and one-time events as opportunities for personal spiritual growth and fellowship for women of the parish.

2. PURPOSE:

To bring together women who are dealing with the challenges of raising a Christian family to support one another and to explore their faith together, particularly in the area of how that faith informs their experiences as mothers, women and wives.

3. FUNCTIONS:

The official MOMS course provides a 6-week workshop, with a nationally-published curriculum to a small group of registered women. This group journals, and shares their growth in a small faith circle.

In addition, MOMS has provided many offshoot activities for its members, some ongoing and others offered as one-time events.

Ongoing MOMS activities include a regular Friday morning prayer circle and a MOMS book discussion club.

In the past, MOMS has sponsored service projects, pancake breakfasts for the parish, half-day and evening women's retreats and longer workshops. All of these events are open to all women of the parish.

4. ORGANIZATION & MEMBERSHIP:

There is an informal steering committee, consisting of women who are most active and involved. We communally decide what events to host and what direction to take. Membership is open to all women of the parish.

5. SCHEDULE:

The official MOMS courses are offered 1-2 times a year, and require registration. All other events are scheduled ad hoc, and publicized accordingly.

Friday morning prayer circle meets from 9:30 11:00, and the location varies by the season and availability. Book club meets monthly, always in the evening.

6. COMMITTEE COSTS & RELATIONSHIPS:

The cost of registration for an official MOMS course is $25, which covers all materials and deposits additional monies into a MOMS reserve, held and managed by the parish. MOMS strives to be financially independent, and has been able to cover the cost of all events in the past. If the need arises to request monies in advance, we have met with the Pastor to present our request.

MOMS has no official relationship with any other parish groups, although it has cooperated with the Office of Faith Formation to co-sponsor events in the past.
