The Music Ministries at St. Joseph parish consist mainly of the Childrens Choir and the adult Festive Chorale, as well as Cantors who lead the assembly in song at Masses and other liturgies. If you are interested in joining a choir, please contact the parish office at (203) 775-1035.

1. SCOPE: The Music Ministry is a volunteer body of lay persons established to assist in parish liturgical and seasonal celebration functions by providing instrumental and vocal music.
2. PURPOSE: The purpose of the Music Ministry is to recruit, instruct and guide performance of instrumental musicians, vocal choir members, and soloists. It schedules and selects appropriate music for liturgical functions in keeping with the church calendar and performs for special events thought-out the year.
3. FUNCTIONS:
a) Organize a group of volunteer choir members, soloists and instrumentalists.
b) Instruct and train musicians and vocalist.
c) Schedule appropriate music for liturgical and other functions engaged in by the ministry.
d) Perform in accordance with the parish calendar.


4. ORGANIZATION & MEMBERSHIP: The Music Ministry is organized under the direction of the Music Director and consists of volunteer choir members, instrumentalist and vocal soloists. The Ministry is divided into the following choirs: Adult Choir, Youth Choir. Membership is confirmed by the Pastor.
5. SCHEDULE: The Ministry performs at all week-end and holy day masses, weddings, funerals and other liturgical events. The music is selected by the Music Director or organist-of-the-day. Rehearsals are scheduled by the Music Director.
6. COMMITTEE COSTS AND OTHER PARISH GROUP RELATIONSHIPS: The cost of music, professional salaries, and other equipment necessary to support the ministry is provide by budgeted parish funds. The Committee works closely with the Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers and the parish clergy.
