Plant Operations
1. SCOPE: The Plant Operations Committee Ministry is a volunteer body of lay persons established to maintain, repair, and renovate parish buildings and grounds and to develop plans for any new construction.
2. PURPOSE: The purpose of the Plant Operations Committee Ministry insure that parish buildings and grounds are properly maintained, to develop plans and recommendations for repairs, renovations, or new construction; and to assist in the selection of qualified con tractors for any required work.
3. FUNCTIONS:
a) Organize "task teams" of volunteers to clean and refurbish grounds and any other maintenance task requiring attention, e/g/ erection of Christmas decorations, policing grounds, tree trimming, leaf raking, etc.
b) Develop concepts, plans and budgets for renovation or new construction projects.
c) Perform or provide for periodic inspections of building equipment and structures and recommend any required corrective action.
d) Develop maintenance schedules for maintenance and repair projects.
e) Assist in the selection of qualified contractors to perform any required work.
f) Coordinate with the Finance Committee in arranging for the financing of repairs and renovations of parish property and the purchase of equipment, as needed.
4. ORGANIZATION & MEMBERSHIP: The Plant Operations Committee consists of volunteer members who have practical knowledge of facilities operations. The Chairman is responsible for calling ad-hoc meetings and scheduling "task team" projects. Membership is confirmed by the Pastor.
5. SCHEDULE: The Committee meets on an "as required" basis as determined by the Chairman.
6. COMMITTEE COSTS AND OTHER PARISH GROUP RELATIONSHIPS: There are no costs associated with the operations of the committee. The Committee works closely with the Finance Committee and Martha Mary Ministry. All expenses related to building and grounds are approved by the Controller and, when necessary on larger projects, by the Finance Committee.
